Texas city to establish veterans commission

With their legacies in mind, Austin, Texas, Mayor Lee Leffingwell and members of the City Council want to create a city veterans-affairs commission, hoping it will ensure that recent efforts to support veterans continue.

The commission would be responsible for tracking issues facing Austin’s veterans, advocating for veterans at City Hall and helping veterans navigate an often-baffling network of support services.
