Marine Corps Times: Committee OKs study of Iraq-breast cancer link

A study of breast cancer among male and female service members and veterans was approved Thursday night by the House Armed Services Committee.

The legislation has its roots in a 2009 reunion of Iraq war veterans that was attended by a cancer survivor who was a member of a congressman’s staff. The staffer discovered that six of 70 women who had served in Iraq had breast cancer or lumps in their breasts.
