NPR: With long wait times at the VA, Milwaukee clinic fills a need

Veteran Quest, a mental health clinic outside Milwaukee, is offering a different model of health care for veterans than they can find at the Department of Veterans Affairs, according to National Public Radio‘s Eric Toner.

Such clinics don’t just offer health care; they also serve as social centers, according to Toner. But veterans say they prefer it because it takes so long to get an appointment at the VA center.

Meanwhile, the VA has announced that it will increase its mental health workers by 1,600 because of long waits to get an appointment. to its system to reduce the amount of wait time
